‘Young Voices’ Project in Southall
SCA has been working with local schools and pupils on our innovative ‘Young Voices’ programme to promote local history in Southall. We are particularly focussing upon the experience of migrant communities in the 1960’s and 70’s, especially the discrimination that many encountered.
By working with Suresh Grover from The Monitoring Group we have been regularly visiting schools or welcoming pupils to our Southall Town Hall office and engaging the young people in discussion, debate and arts works to build on their learning. We are currently also involved in an essay writing competition and all essays and art works will be displayed in our Southall Resists Day on 23 April 2024.
A short film of the project will shortly be available and the whole project is funded by the John Lyon’s Charity.
